What's New Today: The SM Beauty Box

A few days ago I was so intrigued when my favorite beauty bloggers started posting about the SM Beauty Box. After a few clicks here, some oohs and aahs there, and maybe a bit of drooling at the photos, August 1 has arrived! My mum and dad were nice enough to drive and accompany me to SM North EDSA so I could get my grubby paws on this magical box.

We had to take a short pitstop at a bench for my dad since he was having a hypoglycemic episode. After his RBG which read 44, a piece of candy to help bring his sugar levels up, my mum went down with me to get the Beauty Box. I got one for myself, and my mum got two. She wanted to get three but I was like, hey stop, that's too much! That's why we have three boxes between us.

They weren't kidding when they said it was limited. The ladies at the other counters told me that the stocks were all out. My mum and I got three, and there were like seven on the table when we left. So I'm not sure what time they ran out. A manager opened one up to peek, and the other ladies were all around us. The Olay lady was held up the eye cream and lash serum duo, and was like, "Ours costs P1499! Get smoother eyes in a week and better eyelashes in three days!" (I was so amused I kinda forgot to remember exactly what she said. It was something like that though.)

There's the contents in all it's glory. Fancy, isn't it? The cost of all the products in the SM Beauty Box is P4000, but they're selling it for only P799. What a steal right? That's why my mum got two of them. She told me she'll be gifting some of the stuff.

For more details, allow me to direct you to Achi Nikki aka AskMeWhats. Click here!!! She lists every single product in the box, plus she classifies them into groups like hair, face, etc.

I hope that if this proves to be popular, which I think it really, really is, SM and Watson's makes more Beauty Boxes so other folks can get this too. Maybe they can make this into a monthly thing, yeah? Like a subscription box, but retail.

I'm really excited to dive into this box as there are a lot of new brands for me to try. I've been wanting essence since they've been made available in Canada and the US, but I procrastinate so... It's already here so yay! I have the Opal conditioner under a shower cap and towel on my hair right now. It smells good, so we'll see how it goes!

The Day I Got Sunburned

Yesterday! What a glorious, sunny day it was. Holy Thursday was the day my family planned our annual beach trip. As usual, we were late when we started looking for rooms so we had to settle for a day trip. It was a quick beach run, with more than half of the hours spent in the lovely school bus, on the road.

Here's my bare-naked mug, with nothing but sunscreen slathered on. I really love the top-knot I ended up with, it was really, really cute.

What was in my Skin Food polkadot cosmetics bag: sun essentials. Watson's Soothing and Cooling After-Sun Lotion (with aloe, cucumber extract, and Vitamin E!), Hawaiian Tropic Sheer Touch Lotion Sunscreen SPF 50 (in a lovely coconut scent!) and Beach Hut Face Ultra-Sensitive Hypoallergenic Sunblock SPF 65 (that was a mouthful, and a handful to type).

What was in my Majolica Majorca gold and glittery cosmetics bag: make-up! Red Hello Kitty hand mirror, Goody Anti-Frizz hair brush, MAC Studio Fix compact in NC25 (I used to be NC20 when I was younger, boo), Majolica Majorca Pressed Pore Cover, Charm Retractable Kabuki, Skin Food Salmon Dark Eye Circle Concealer in 02, Origins Liquid Lip Color in Copper Beach, eos Smooth Lip Balm Sphere in Summer Fruit and NARS blush in Orgasm. I only put them on after showering, since the ocean would wash it away if I decided to wear it into the water.

And here's a photo of the little white pup my brother helped save. So we were sitting around in our cabana, and my brother sees this father and son pair swimming in the sea. They were throwing around this little white thing and after some squinting, we realize that it's a white puppy. They threw him into the water, submerged him, let him swim and scamper off, chased him and finally, buried him in the sand. My brother approached the policemen that were patrolling in the area, and after witnessing for themselves the cruelty that was going on, one of them approached the kid to tell him off. I saw the poor, scared pup run off somewhere. When my dad and I went to the food hut to get some juice, I saw the poor thing and called him. Being the nice, trusting little fellow that he was, he approached me and I picked him up. I fed him some of the food we had for lunch: fried chicken (that was way too dry, really), tuna and pork. The poor boy, which we dubbed Whitey, wolfed each morsel down.

I ended up getting sunburned even though I slathered the sunscreen on. After about thirty minutes in the water, I got up for lunch. I reapplied and went back in for another thirty minutes. Right now my shoulders hurt pretty bad. My chest is kinda red but aside from the V-mark I got from my swimsuit, it's pretty much okay. Lesson learned: No matter how careful I am, I don't tan. I burn.

What I wore for Halloween

Here's the face I wore on Halloween. My face was probably the worst canvass ever, but Ate Lara of NARS at Rustan's Shangri-La painted it up and made some nice free hand art. Products used were all NARS except Stila eye liners for the design and Pur 4-in-1 Pressed Mineral Make Up. Loved Stila's smudge stick waterproof eyeliner in silverdollar. Really nice in person!

Too bad I forgot to take a photo right after it was done, and in better light. My lips looked amazing, with a silvery metallic lip liner all over and a sheer pink lipgloss. My eyelids hosted some neutral shades and as usual, cult-fave Orgasm was dusted on my cheeks.

I'll be making another post on my unplanned hiatus the last two weeks or so. I'll be back to regular programming, hopefully.
